To play Plinko at home, you’ll need to build your own Plinko board setup first. We’ve outlined the exact steps you need to take below:

• Purchase a pegboard and golf tees. You can go to the hardware store – or to an online store – and purchase a plastic pegboard. The measures should be 46 cm by 56 cm. You will also need to get a pack of around 100 5.1 cm golf tees. You can find this item in almost any sporting goods store.
• Create your first row of pegs with golf tees. You need to start the build with a hole in the top-left corner of the board – push a tee through the back of it. Next, you need to move horizontally from left to right and push tees through every other row on the first row.
• Keep making peg rows down the board. Once you’re done with the first row, it’s time to move on to the next. You need to skip the entire second row, and skip the first hole on the third row’s left end. This time, you need to push a tee starting with the second hole – and every other hole horizontally after that. By doing this, you’ll offset the new row of pegs from the previous row. This pattern should be continued all the way down the board.
• Cut pieces of a foam core board to make a frame. We recommend that you go with purchasing a 51 cm by 76 cm foam core board. Once you have it in your possession, use an X-Acto knife to cut 2 separate 57 cm by 7.6 cm strips, which will make the sides of the frame. Cut 2 separate 46 cm by 7.6 cm strips for the top and bottom. Lastly, you need to cut 2 separate 7.6 by 7.6 cm squares that you can use as corner supports, with 5 separate 7.0 cm by 5.40 cm pieces. You’ll use these pieces as slot dividers at the bottom. Make sure to use a measuring tape and measure your foam pieces.
• Make final cuts to the top edge of your frame and your foam squares. You need to cut each of the foam squares into 2 identical triangles. Then, cut 3 separate 5.1 cm holes in the top frame piece, which will enable the balls to fit through them.
• Glue the frame together and then glue it to the pegboard. You can use a hot glue gun to glue the side pieces of the frame to the top and bottom pieces at each corner. You should glue 1 triangle on each corner from the frame’s back side. Once the glue dries up, you can put glue on the front of each triangle piece. Then, carefully slide the board into the frame.
• Create the bottom slots. Next, you need to evenly space your bottom slot dividers and then glue them down vertically to the board’s bottom. After you’ve done this, you can line the bottom of each slot with a different colored construction paper – the different colors will represent different prizes. The great thing about these prizes is that you can make them into whatever you want – it could be cash prizes, school-related prizes for classroom play, small toys for kids’ birthdays, etc.

Going with the cash prizes format will align you with the traditional Plinko gameplay. In this case, you can label the center slot as having the highest value – while the slots on either side of it will need to be valued at $0.

If you choose to play Plinko with students in a classroom, you can name one slot “free pencil”, while another slot can be “homework pass”.
